Edelbrock hasn't produced the reproductions for a while. They're tough to find now; probably (definitely) not going to get one for $400. Likewise for a PM7.

I am looking for a reasonably prices used intake.
Would a super edelbrock dual have enough room for an alternator?

Being a 36 with the fan mounted on the generator alternator i can't really move the generator to the side

Ok - I am going to step out on a limb here. Use your stock intake and install a “Y” adapter to run two carbs progressively with the front one being the primary set to be just like a single cab set up, the rear a secondary with jets blocked or all the way in and power valves plugged. My powergen generator still touched it I then added a 1/4” spacer under the front carb and it passes. Charlie Price of Vintage speed can set you up. I put one on my avatar, got it up and running and didn’t touch it for almost 5 years. A lot easier for the street vs two carbs running simultaneously and getting them synched right. A lot cheaper too ….. Just my 2 cents …..

"Being a 36 with the fan mounted on the generator alternator i can't really move the generator to the side"

Is that the engine in your avatar? An 8BA? I don't think you'll have room to fit a fan on front of that generator. I think you'd be better off transferring the front stuff, ie gene, water pumps, distributor, pulley to 59A or earlier stuff. I could be wrong...probably am- ask my wife...lol.
Problem with 36 is the sloping radiator. 8BA setup places water pump pulleys and generator pulley further forward than the earlier engines, on account of the distributor location. There is barely room in a stock 36 for the fan.
I have a 35, it too has the same sloping style radiator as your coupe. It runs twin carbs on a 'SUPER DUAL' manifold. Compounding the problem is the water pumps are located in the front of the heads, this prevents being able to run an offset generator mount as is commonly used on 24 stud engines. How I got around the problem was by making a custom fan mount by shortening up the stock generator so I could utilise the stock front pulley and fan, and having another pulley at back of this device, which, via another belt, drives an alternator bracketed off of the rh head tucked in behind the waterpump.
This is totally useless information to you as, although you could do something similar, you'll still not be able to fit a fan with 8BA frontal system.

Ah, good catch Brian. I didn't realize we were talking about an 8BA. I assumed an earlier engine.

A new Edelbrock Slingshot is about $650 or so, though you might be able to find a used one. It is one of the best "high-rise" manifolds there is . . . along with the PM7. I've used quite a few Slingshots - highly recommend them for your setup.

None of the "super" or "racing" intakes will work with a generator as they all move the front carburetor so that it's in line with the first four intake ports. You have to use an offset bracket.

You could probably use one with an alternator, but that'd add some out-of-place ugly to a flathead in addition to there being no alternators with fan mounts available.

As noted earlier, even the reproduction Slingshots are no longer available (perpetual backorder).

The PM7 isn't too stellar of an intake; it's actually worse than a non-high rise 2x2 intake. The Weiand and Edelbrock (non-Slingshot) hi-rise 2x2 are probably in the same "not great" category due to their similar geometry.

The OP's best bet (as far as available new) intakes is to get the Offy 1090 or a Navarro Regular. The Sharp Regular may also be a similar performer.

81A block pretty much all prewar except the 4” crank and mercury pistons

I swapped out the 8bA

I have used and have a Alternator pulley that is drilled for the 36 fan. The weight is suppose to be hard on the alternator bearing being quite small. I have put 5k on one without a failure. It would be easy to carry a spare alternator in case the front bearing failed.

Is this mocked up? Can you post some better pictures of how much space you are actually dealing with? More than likely, there is a solution, but it helps to see what we are dealing with.

I’ll get more pictures but it’s a 24 stud engine in a 36 frame and a 36 radiator

Paging Coop. Mr. Coop. Paging Mr. Coopman. If I recall correctly he modified a 59AB style fan to be used in a '36 (??) and it all worked.

I have an Edelbrock Regular mounting 2 97s and stock generator - front carb hangs over the generator and a fan can be mounted on the generator. I would think a high rise manifold would be satisfactory or you could put risers on a low dual manifold - the trick is to get the front carb to be over the generator.
