A thought came into my mind that if that tool is dated 1940 or so the flatheads were less that 10 years old. They probably were not as stuck as what we have to contend with today.

Good point Mart. In fact the oldest Ford V8s were 8 years old. I would not anticipate needing tremendous pulling power to remove a head from a 2017 Ford today. Much of what we work on today has sat out in the elements for a long time.
