When ever I have converted a LHD car to RHD, it is either find a good RHD fuel tank (not easy) or cut off the LHD bracket and use one of my RHD supports. For the TINY amount of fuel that MIGHT be about, I have no hesitation about doing it. For these concerns to be valid, IMO, the fuel would have to be leaking so fast that a puddle would form on the floor overnight.
