That's not paranoia, that's experience. If you were paranoid the car would be on a trailer behind your new pickup.

Let me assure you to carry eight ( yes 8 ) extra spark plugs in your car in case of a breakdown is paranoia! Wayne

Thanks for the input everyone. I try to keep up with all the post, and make note of any I might need to reference later. The one post I don't remember ever seeing is the one where someone broke down on the side of the rode and didn't get home. Either it doesn't happen very often, or I missed them. I'm thinking it doesn't happen often. I am quite sure I will continue to keep a check on everything, it's just what I do. Don't laugh to hard but I also added a Zenith overhaul kit to my bag.

You are max 15 miles from home, do you really think you will rebuild your carburetor on the side of the road? It's not a cross desert journey. If you are that paranoid you should have stayed with a regular car. Wayne

Make sure you have a big stick with you, when you break down you can use it to keep people away that stop and want to help ;-)

keep at it, it is working. carrying a few simple parts and tools causes no harm. after all, the A came with a full tool kit on-board

why not check the oil and water in the daylight when you get home from work?

I do that as well. Peace of mind means more than the few minutes it takes to check a few things. This car has far exceeded my expectations, and I am sure it will give me good service for some time to come.

Hi safe,

FWIW:

After reading Model A Forum messages for over 20 years:

Just an Out-of-the-Box Model A Thought for the Day:

A. Model A owners post Forum messages hourly, always saying they have Model A car problems.

B. I think that if Model A's could talk, we would be reading hourly messages every day where Model A's have Model A owner problems.

C. But, nobody ever listens to the silent majority.

At worse was pushing my A for a bit on down the road. 99 % of the times I have ever been broken down, someone, mostly strangers, stopped to help. This was both for my previous Model A's and my Russian Ural sidecar. That 1 % left was likely when I ended up pushing my old tudor down the road a bit. Carry what you wish to make yourself feel good and secure, but chances are Murphy's Law will remain intact and also the idea that any specifically needed tool or part will still be there on your workbench in your garage right where you left it.
Sounds like you're not one to mess with.
