I am not a puter geek. I don't even like these things, dial set telephones are more my speed. There! Spoken like real retro old car afficianado! But since I have it, I'll use it. Unless I can get a killer deal on a Mac and Best Buys will take this POS back (I hit something and I'm getting bold font now and I can't reverse it!) I must have hit the right key without knowing it, the standard font is back. GGGGGRRRRRFRR. What didI do?

You probably hit CTRL + B when you meant to hit Shift + B to capitalize the B in "Best Buy"...CTRL+B is a way to quickly switch between bold/regular font in many applications.

I don't think the Mac Plus is that rare. Quite a few on e-pay. It's kind of like the Ford Model A. Apple made a million of them.
Some of the earlier ones are rare, like the Lisa or Apple I. This Mac has sentimental value to me though. I was going through Cancer therapy when I bought it and I like to think learning how to use it helped me take my mind off of "things". Here we are ~30 years later and we're still together... ![]() ![]() But enough of that... Last edited by Y-Blockhead; 03-17-2015 at 08:16 PM. |

Windows 7 emulators on windows 8 would still have yuck underlying system structure right?
Norton antivirus is pretty yuck BTW, not the worse ever but still yuck.

People resist change, which is why you will hear them say Win8 sucks or it is a "POS" mainly because it is different and they don't know how to use it.

Welcome Back Terry!
Windows 10 around the corner free upgrade and will put back a lot of options to use the start button as per Windows 7 et al. I work in the industry and I dislike Windows 8 with a passion. I'm sure it's wonderful if you have touch screen equipment, but "doh" most people don't! On Apple, I'm there on the phones, Apple TV etc, but as for laptop/PC products I can't justify the price for the form over function ![]()

I had the displeasure of trying Windows 8 a couple of weeks ago. Very confusing and frustrating. A big downgrade from XP. Hope the next stuff out is more straight forward than that. I can gaurantee I will not be first in line. My computer is having some problems, so taking it to the shop next week. Hope to keep it alive for atleast another year. Glad you made it back. Rod

I jumped from XP to 8.1, it's a PITA!! I've heard that the change from Windows 8.0 to 8.1 was a drastic one!
Cindy, my CPA Daughter, is still using something else. She's a computer WHIZ & when she uses my 8.1, she's as confused as I am!!! I wish I had bought my new computer, loaded with Windows 7.0 & it would have been CHEEPER, also! "Thinking" about having my professional computer Buddy re-load it with Windows 7.0. Windows 8.1 For Dummies, is no help, either. Buster T. is confused, also, & he's GOOD at lurnin' NEW TRICKS. Bill W.

RIGHT ON! Bill! The hell with not getting mad at it! I paid good money for this thing and I'm not wrong for expecting something to be usuable, AND without all the " clever" ways to get ads in front of you and distract you from what you're trying to write. That has to be built in. This machine was built for advertisers, not people!
