Re: Bonnie and Clyde's A?????
For those who are familiar with the '33 & '34 Ford Sedans, you will note the nice accessory Potter Trunk at the rear of the '34 Sedan. You historians of the era and of the bandits of the era, may help me recall if it was Clyde Barrow or John Dillinger, that sent a letter to Henry Ford, praising him for his fine '34 V-8 automobile, saying that he uses them (presumably, stolen) whenever he can.
The Model A Coupe pictured, was most likely a reporter's car (perhaps the photographer who took the photos), as the police always used sedans, for their extra personnel capacity. And yes, Bonnie & Clyde were killed in the '34 Ford pictured. - Doug Vieyra, previous '34 Ford 4-Door Sedan owner ('59 AB block, Lincoln-Zephyr gears in stock box.) Re: Bonnie and Clyde's A?????
I believe this to be the best book on the Bonnie & Clyde story, very factual, quite a good explanation of Clyde's motoring philosophy into the bargain

Re: Bonnie and Clyde's A?????
Attributed to Clyde in a 1934 letter to Henry:
"I have drove fords exclusively when I could get away with one It has got every other car skinned, and even if my business hasn't been strictly legal it don't hurt anything to tell you what a fine car you got in the V-8" |

Re: Bonnie and Clyde's A?????
My Grandfather grew up in a little place called Chalk Mountain. It's about a hour south of DFW. When I was a little kid. There was a man that would come to my grandparents. His name was Ralph Jenkins. He would tell me stories about Bonnie and Clyde. And how he drove a car for them a few times. The Chalk Mountain area was a known area where people could go and keep out of site for a while. My family was big into moonshine back then. Ralph and his wife left Texas for Vegas. She was a dancer and would pick up men in a casino. And they would rob them in the hotel room. He told me that you never stole a car that was not fast. He ended up becoming a good guy once he got older.
