There is an outfit in Escondido California called Restoration Supply. www.restorationstuff.com

They list what they call "Oval Iron" on page 28 of their catalog which may be a closer match to the top iron shape than the bar stock. (download their pdf)

I have not dealt with them so I cannot share any experience.

Thought I could add 2 Cents to the conversation. I have two original 32 Cabriolet center bows off the cars. Both are identical in design. The construction is a hollow tube, flattened to 9/32" thick x 1-1/32" wide. There is a fitted steel piece 3-1/2" long slid up into each end with two tapped holes 2-1/2" on center. The tapped holes accept the two screws that attach each end of the bow to the top left and right verticals behind the side windows. There are 3 top strap locations on the underside with two holes per location. I have attached a photo.

Thanks Rust1932. That was going to be my next question, what does the ends look like? I really think you nailed it with your original picture and comments. I sure want to thank everyone that submitted pictures and comments. This was a big help and it will also help my friend from buying the wrong bow. From this post I hope some one will make some of these bows. Thanks all. JimOH

Jim,
Check out Superior Auto Parts in Delphi, Indiana. They took over the Top Iron reproduction part of Gertz Industries in Monticello when Gertz got out this business. Superior has a web site. I do not have there phone # handy.
