Will the 5" mirror head fit on the 4" mounting post of the closed-car hinge mirrors?

I have clip-ons mounted on the visor of my 1928 Tudor. They work great. When I tried them on the doors, I could not see enough. FYI I am 6'4" and have some trouble looking out from an original seat.
Use some very thin rubber strip to protect your paint. Even then I have chipped my paint. Just adds to the patina! Ian |

Strange thing there... 4" Replacement head $24.00, 5" $9.95?? That's a good question, I'll have to measure mine tomorrow. Last edited by Y-Blockhead; 01-18-2015 at 11:48 PM. |

I had the door hinge mirrors which worked well for visibility. But my coupe has windwings which were on it when I bought it. The windwings get in the way of the hinge mirrors (maybe the windwings were installed in the wrong spot?) So I go the clip on mirrors for the windwings and they work well. I don't notice a lot of vibration and I can see other cars when I need to make a lane change.

I have the round hinge mirrors on both sides but added one of the roumd mirrors that bring things up close to the right hand mirror. It had a sticky side that glued right over the original round mirror and it sure cut down on the right hand blind side and it works great

I think it is 4" ...just a standard aftermarket '40's Ford mirror, iirc. I also bought a pair of mirror heads that the head pivot is centered on the mirror. Any head/either will work, just need to drill out a hole for the right size.

I have the hinge mounted mirrors on both sides of the car with the parabolic mirrors attached to the glass like racingrufus stated as the mirror that comes with the hinge mounted mirror from the vendors gives too small a field of view for me. The hinge mirrors do not vibrate.

This was an earlier photo, perhaps. the hinge pin is replaced by a slightly longer carriage head SS bolt and an acorn nut at the bottom. there are two 8-32 set screws that are used to hold it firmly in position.
