Have adjusted idle mixture screws to a lean setting as described by Edelbrock. Out looking for a timing light to help solve the problem, the one I have is outdated and missing the spark plug adapter.

If the spark plug adapter is what I think it is, it's nothing more than a metal conductor that fits between the plug and plug wire to provide a spot to clamp the sensor. (nothing fancy and probably can be made up out of available materials.)

Don't take what Jack said to heart Im sure he didn't mean it.. The dial back light is a handy tool, but learn how to use the vacuum gauge in the meantime. I'd help you out but I wont be in Vegas for another 4 weeks [and counting wooooh!]

Battery (OPTIMA) won't hold a charge now so didn't get a chance to adjust idle mixture screws for optimal vacuum reading. Was getting 10-11 vacuum HG at 850 RPM. Renting the light was something I didn't think of but like I say won't turn over now and quite honestly my frustration level is such that I need to move on to something else. Going to start hanging some of the front sheet metal while I've got someone to help me. Monday am leaving for a couple of weeks at the beach.
