Been cold, in Utah, but we warmed up the garage a few days and put the gas tank in. UGh!! That gas tank felt!! What a beast!

Been awhile, but still here and still working on the 29 A, after 3 days of no luck of starting the car, I finally got it going, turned out that the AMP meter has to be wired as well. After that, it started right up. Here's a youtube link if anyone is interested in see it. Thanks.

The part you show are called deck lid aligning wedges, two are used, they fit in the trunk lid rain gutter area, but I see you have a rumble lid configuration, that being the case there are two wedges used in theupper part of the rain gutter that are rectangular in shape held on by a flat head screw and nut. Vendors have them.

If I remember correctly Henry Ford build his original Model T engine prototype on his kitchen table!

It was suppose to be the standard 29 Thorne Brown which is a lot darker then this. But some how the paint shop ended up with this color. We decided we liked it better so we kept it.

the half moon parts go at the bottom of the corners for a deck lid the ones for a rumble lid are square and go in the top corners . look in one of the parts books from snyders and you will see

More process on the A, for Christmas it got seats and side panels, and fenders attached! I see that first drive just around the bend!

That said, I would have repaired a car like this, not restored it and driven it with all of its patina. We are envious of you guys because cars like this NEVER turn up here and I'd nearly trade my first born for one. Don't let my daughter see this pleeeaaase!

Thanks for the comments guys. This car was not a barn find though, we bought this car from a guy who wills and deals with Model A Fords and all what he does is takes spare parts and just puts them together. He didn't even have the decency to take the birds nest out of the water pump before he put the engine together. Here are some pictures before he sold it to me and as you can see in the one picture of the snow covered A's in the back ground. Poor A's

Still here and slowly but surely the A will get done, we went for our first ride a few months ago, runs wells and shifts very nice. Since we replaced all of the engine mounts and added the small front engine spring in front (didnt have one before) it takes off just smooth as smooth, no more chattering.

Finally got the lights to work the other day, pretty easy really just some finicking with wire ends thats all.
Got home the other night from work and found my dad joy riding in it late last night in the big parking lot next door. Those bulbs are supper bight for being on the 6 volt system! Just saying. After all the issues that we have had with this car the last few years, from pulling the engine 3 times, body pans welded on worng, doors not closing due to bent hinges, the family has decided to call this car Rose, she looks pretty but she has thorns. |
