Re: Ill bet you havent seen one of these....
Lol. I wondered about that. I cant remember when we changed, but im nearly 45, and started life in miles an hour, then it got changed, and sometimes i still think in miles. Still think in horse power terms, and sometimes find it hard when the young guys talk about kws.
Its just after midnight here, and i had the cash im owed dropped off tonight, so im off to bed, safe in the knollage that the money ive been waiting on, destined for the truck is in my wallet. Tomorrow i will be ringing Derek, (quickchange) and ordering some parts. Woo Hoo! Last edited by JeffM; 04-03-2011 at 07:13 AM. |

Re: Ill bet you havent seen one of these....
I believe they had a fabric top as our 28 did also. Our 28 also had large wood spoke wheels and a two speed auxiliary transmission behind the three speed main one.

Re: Ill bet you havent seen one of these....
Our wire wheels are the original and she also has the same three speed with a dual high secondary behind .. Ours is an early 28 with left hand emergency brake lever ( uses all 4 service brakes as the emergency )

Got parts ordered, inspected new second hand rear backing plates that were dropped off last night, and been checking out car sites for the last hour. Time to crank up the fire, make a hot coffee, and read some more. Hope your weekends gone well and your looking forward to a great week. |

Re: Ill bet you havent seen one of these....
Time for an overdue update.
I've taken the windshield out, got a new terminal box to go with the wiring, got given some Rimu timber for the pieces in cab frame that need replacing, as well as using it for running boards. I also started the bodywork, which was going well untill i discovered this.... I got all excited as this maybe could tell me some of the trucks history. I had gone to far with the strip disc when i realised, so i can't get all of this sign, but i havent started the drivers side yet, so that will be where i get it all. Just have to work through the half dozen top coats slowly. So after my initall excitment, and getting the pics on the computer, looking at them showed evidence of another sign under the first. So now i've got two mysterys instead.

I also managed to get the use of my friends garnet blaster for an hour today, so i cleaned up the water pump, and found this.

Re: Ill bet you havent seen one of these....
Yep, you're due for a new shaft and impellor. I'd order them installed together, as the last impellor I tried to press on the new shaft shattered.

Re: Ill bet you havent seen one of these....
Heres the drivers side door, with first sign uncovered.
Primer pic. I have been on the phone to Librays, Musems and local area car club people. These pics were sent from a Librarain, and i've cleaned them up in photobucket, best i could. The first is of a 1921 Ford truck, and the second is some trucks at the Golden Bay Dairy factory in the 30s. Unfortanatly, my Model A isn't in there.

Re: Ill bet you havent seen one of these....
Ive been talking to a guy up in Takaka, who has sent me some old pics of the Pohara store. Still cant track the Pohara Traders part of the signage though.
Heres another pic of how the truck was found, and the ones ive been sent of the store.
