Kirk, what John and Alan said is absolutely true. The Dearborn RG 67 of the Early Ford V8 club would welcome you and your car. Several of the RG members have hot rodded /V8s. I drove down to the the Eastern National Meet in Concord, NC with a friend who's got A/C in his '40 Ford Pickup. We've got a club picnic on July 11 at Murray Lake, just north of Ann Arbor, you'd be welcome to come as a prospective new member. The Early Ford V8 magazine alone is worth joining for. But don't stop there!

Your Cabriolet looks GREAT !
In case that you did not know, you have an early 1935 Cabriolet. They are fairly scarce.
The easiest way to tell is the placement of the interior door opener. It is placed up close to the windshield post. They were later moved to the center of the door. That did away with the rope pull.
I know this, as mine is an early one, too.
Wish mine was done in leatherette instead of the fabric.

Great looking car, I am of course partial to 35 cabriolets but I am particularly interested in your (not your fiance's!) top. Looks a great shape and interesting stitching detail, would love to see and hear more about it.

Mike, yeah...I knew it was an early model based on the location of the door handle. If I recall, I think the build date is Nov 1934

Safety items are only frond on when being judged as original. What you've done is considered exceptable for a street machine. Don't forget the shoulder and lap belts. I have them in my 47

DD...I don't recall ever seeing them so they probably disappeared before I was born. I thought about getting some but I don't want to screw up the paint on the fenders.

I'm not seeing any tail lights on the car but I do remember those "bullet" lights on top of the front fenders. Those lasted there forever. They weren't in the parts that I got from my dad when he shipped the car to me...and I knew they weren't original so I filled the holes.

The skirts look great, interesting again that they are full teardrop ones, I have usually only seen them on 36's, with the 35 rear fender having an up sweep I would not have thought they would have fitted. Mine are less elegant "Garwood" ones.
I would like to see more photos of the top when you get a chance. You are a lucky man to have that car and the connection with your dad.
My dad helped me with my 35, took him out for the day for Fathers day.

Yeah, come to Brainerd MN to the Central National Meet. I will be there with my 40 wagon and would love to see your 35 up close. You would have a lot shorter drive to attend then I. Since it is a long haul I am trailering my wagon.

Great looking car. I think the only one's who would nit pick are those who are jealous they don't have one as nice. The memories will last a life time., treasure them.

I'm not ready to take the car on a road trip. I rebuilt the distributor and I think that's doing fine. I checked voltages after I was done...getting 6.17 volts to the upstream portion of the resistor and 2.7 at the coil. I just received my new resistor...if that's not the problem, I have a nice spare. If it's not the resistor, I guess the only other problem might be the coil dragging it down...if they can do that. The script coil has likely never been rebuilt so it could be due. Will need to build some trust in the car before I travel to a meet another state away. I'll trailer it until then. I'll be gone for 3 weeks starting july 2nd so I think I'll miss that meet but will try to make it to others.
