Russ, that's a really great idea with the middle light strapped to the top of the spare tire !

Did you make the mount from scratch, or use the mount for sidemount spare tire for the basis ?

Thanks for sharing !

I used a license plate bracket.

Special Coupe Frank #21 My #3 son makes medieval armor, he knocked out the mount in short order from templates that I made. I can take and post photos and measurements if someone would want.

I had mine fastened with belts to the spare tire, but it kept moving due to road vibration. I moved it to the back of the trunk top, fastened it with screws and now it stays put. When the trunk is opened it moves with the trunk top so no problem. Also, the wire does not go through the spare tire spokes now.

Frank post #25 I finally got a few moments to get out to the garage and take some photos. In the last photo the red wire goes to ground on the body, the other 2 wires are soldered together and connect into the right hand brake light wire. The radius's on the vertical were made with a tuna can. The belts were $4 at Wally's. Russ

If it moves around like in post #25 you could glue cork or rubber to the bracket? to keep it in place.

I snugged it up nice and tight with velcro and covered that up with leather belts.

I didn't want to mount a light bar in my coupe roll-down rear window. It would annoy rumble seat passengers especially at night. I opted to mount it behind the spare tire and wire it through the rumble lid. It's hardly noticeable until it lights up.

I did one years ago on a 30 with a trailer light and rubber grommet.I took the hubcap off the spare, and it fit that open hole like it was made for it.I don't remember what brand light and grommet it was,but at the time I was using Grote, Peterson and Optronics on trailers I was building. The 2 wire connector just plugged into the back of the lamp module.

Here's mine. Tractor Supply LED. Homemade bracket clamps to spokes with two wing nuts and wired with bullet connectors for quick removal. Installed with flasher That flashes LED for 5 seconds then goes to full on without flashing. Really gets your attention.

I don't think you can wire the 3rd brake/turn light into the LogoLites controller. Their controller and LEDs use low voltage and current - fuse is only 1 amp. That's less than 1/4 amp per light if you've got the flashers on. Their lights only have 1 wire because the 2nd wire is the car itself.

Their website notes: DO NOT CONNECT TYPE 23 SIGNAL LIGHTS TO 6V OR 12V BATTERY! DOING SO CAN DESTROY THE LED LIGHT BAR!

I am not running LogoLites.

I have the Snyders 3rd brake light in the rear window of my Fordor. It is hooked to the brake and turn indicators. When braking and indicating a turn, one side stays on and the other side flashes. One major advantage not mentioned so far is that I can check to see if my brake light switch and turn indicator switch are working by looking in the rear view mirror. Enough light gets reflected to indicate that things are OK.
