To me it's a shame how many blocks have been scraped over the years that could easily be repaired!

I don't know about you guys, but I can easily see a repair like this costing upwards of $300 - given the time it can take to pressure test the block. If they have all the right tools/setup, not so bad - if they had to 'improvise', then a lot of shop hours can get spent.

Yes, unless we start taking these cracked blocks up to Ronnie and let him do this repair for $100.00 USD or less

Ha Ha, but the real question is would the crack have actually been a problem if you just left it alone?

We need your address for "where it snows" and could deliver at least 10 cracked blocks to your doorstep for repair.
Now... if you just want some "wise cracks" you probably already have enough of your own

I think you would be a fun guy to sit around the fire pit in the summer and have a few burgers and whatever to the wee hours after midnight. We do that here a couple of days a week after the snow has gone.I live outside the crazy busy city.As for the address it is less than an hour from the from the great bordering USA. Go to the US quite often to retrieve goods from my us mailing address.Wise cracks are what brings out the comradery in a good place like,The Ford Barn. Many take the true posts as a barb but it is what it is. Keep up the posts they are full of good info. Better to learn than to fail.
Cheers

There's no question that it's difficult to find a good, crack free block.
I bought 5, all returnable, then took them to a very reputable shop.
We didn't even unload them, just checked each one on the tailgate.
All had so many cracks, I got discouraged. Finally, after returning all
and getting my money back, I called Vern Tardell in Santa Rosa, CA.
He sold me a beautiful crack free block (magged & guaranteed) for the same
$500.00 that I had paid, then returned on the others.
I then had that same block magged again, pressure tested and sonic checked
for $250.00. Now I sleep better.

I know that discouraging feeling all too well. Makes that sbc look real good.
Good blocks are still out there If your patient. Finding a crack free block is pretty rare though, maybe 1 in 30. Most have the the crack from the head bolt to the coolant passage (I think it was standard equipment).
