These photos are from Sunday. New info: He is a 1930 with 1931 single piece splash aprons and '28 '29 parking brake. Barney is missing the left side wind wing frame.....anyone got one lying about?

I have standard 1930 coupe. I added a right rear tail light safety. Only regret turning it into a rumble seat.... I have replaced those ugly WWW with black walls.

Me too. Looks like the way many early amateur restorations happened in that era. Early '60's. Get a nice clean survivor and spiff it up. Those are the really good cars now. Never allowed to go to pieces in some field for 80 years.

That's what my car is too. A low mileage survivor, that got "spiffed up" in the 60's. It was a an all black car now its Lombard Blue. At least its all black at night

Sweet

And to think, there are many, many more out there, just waiting to be found and resurrected.

Radiator back from the shop.....it had no leaks but got boiled out anyway. The wiring was to get done later today (Sat. 17th) and tires ordered. Barney has 3 "Bool" hub caps that polished up nicely. The shell polished up nicely.
Found out that the previous owner bought him in 1950 and drove him 'til 1965 when he began to overheat. He thought that it was a cracked block. The original engine will eventually be gotten into and the problem found. It will be rebuilt and returned to it's rightful spot if possible.
We also found that the Earl Sheibe re-spray cost $29, but the PO couldn't recall the date.
The adventure continues as Barney gets ready to once again get on the road. Russ

I worked at Earl Scheib back in 1976-78, it was $29.95 back then, and masking was extra.

Burner 31, Barney P. the previous owner bought the coupe in 1950 and drove it until problems developed in 1965 when he parked it. He remembered the $29 but did not remember when it was resprayed. It has always been black. The present owner is looking for 2 "Bool" hubcaps. Anyone? Russ

#24 Jim, I like "spiff it up". That is exactly what Cecil has intentions of doing and making no real changes. Thanks for the phrase.

#32 Keith, That you for the information on dates that Earl Scheib was doing 29.95 paint jobs. He must've not raised his prices as BARNEY was not registered after 1965.

#34 Bill, give Cecil another call 'cuz he's probably forgotten that he said he'd return your call. He and Kay are really excited at having BARNEY out and about. They had him out on his first adventure last night for the final Clovis Farmer's Market. I only got one good photo but will get out his way and get some better ones this next week. Russ

A black model A appeals to me also. These are mine, but the coupe may be for sale soon.

This'll probably be the last posting of the '30 Standard Coupe known as Barney. Cecil, the current caretaker has completed the rebirth after a 51 year hibernation. A temporary engine substitution was made, new tires added, and a lot of elbow grease applied. Yesterday the wiring was sorted out and a return to stock headlights was made. No visible changes are contemplated. The intent now is to keep it as is and rebuild the original engine. This photo was taken last night, over the hood of my roadster, at Enchanted Evening in Clovis. Barney is regularly driven and gets a lot of attention wherever he goes.

Ditto to the all black Ford. Great find, and a reminder to us all, they are still out there. Best of luck to the new caretaker of that beautiful car.
