Vic, had a great time, hope you retrieved your truck OK. Mike and I came up with some GREAT ideas for the 2015 BARNERS BASH in the spring. Thanks for breaking down and keeping with tradition

Keith, thanks for all the New York based left handed compliments...
![]() ![]() I'm looking forward to hearing what ideas you and Mike came up with for the 2015 Florida "Barner's Bash". Talk to you later.

Another Moonshine Festival has come and gone, the good thing is that the memories remain. This year Gene (Green 50) set up the White Knuckle Tour for us and, it was the best attended tour that we’ve had yet. The rout was picturesque and the... destination was delicious… I think we had a total of nine Flatheads on the tour and something like thirty people. As usual, I was busy socializing and I didn’t ever get an actual count of the number of participants.
I’ll digress, and let you know how our ride up to Dawsonville went. This year I drove my ’51 F-1 and got as far as “Big Daddy” Don Garlits Museum in Ocala, Florida. Mike was riding with me and I just happened to glance at the oil pressure gauge and noticed that the pressure had dropped a bit. We pulled off of the highway and into a gas station. Upon inspection, we noticed that the PCV valve was letting oil exit… We also noticed that the fan and generator were slightly off center, letting the fan blades just touch the shroud at the bottom. We plugged the port on the PCV (there were two and the rubber cap on the second one had come off) and I reached under the generator to lift it so Mike could snug the bolt. Mike gave the bolt one good turn and it sheered off… ![]() Friday morning we left the hotel at 7:00 am and drove up to Dawsonville to meet everyone at Thunder Road for the White Knuckle Tour. Kiwi Tony has a friend, “Rabbit” who has a beautiful ’40 TuDor Sedan. Rabbit told me he had an 8BA intake manifold that I could have. He called his son and asked him to bead blast and paint the intake… Saturday morning, he gave me the freshly painted (black, the color of the Flathead in my F-1) along with a full set of gaskets. ![]() ![]() Getting back to the White Knuckle Tour, we drove up to Blood Mountain and on to the BBQ. I’ll let the photos do the talking from here. The Saturday Moonshine Festival was a blast as always and was attended by a bunch of FordBarner’s. Again, I’ll let the photos do the talking… ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Back home safe & sound, Bill and I traveled over 2000 miles and NO major problems, you have to respect those old flatheads. I have never seen so many 39-40 fords as were near the courthouse in Dawsonville. For awhile you forget that there are other car besides fords. Thanks to everyone for a great time, the memories will last a life time, Chuck S.

( something I never do ) Round trip 2525 Miles / 175 gal of gas / 1 Qt oil ~ Down side is ~ before I got to Chucks to start the run to the fest sheba decided she only needed 1 thermostat so the left one either stuck open or if it is in the line it may have turned side ways. Then on the WHITE KNUCKEL TOUR some B M W tried to take Me Vic & His friend O B out by passing us on the in side of one of the switch backs where there was no in side. { lets think about that for a moment / 1947 tudor Ford vs Beemer NO guardrail nothing but down on his out side Glad he had 2nd thoughts it would not have been as pretty as the views we were seeing } Now Sunday when Chuck & I were leaving for the return trip home we left the hotel parking lot at 6:30 a.m. Before we got to the main st my right Laker pipe front bracket broke and the pipe started to drag. we stopped and removed the rear bracket and put the pipe in the car. < glad it did not happen on the inter state at those speeds I for sure would have run it over not telling what could have happen from there > Then the only thing that happen is I was following Chuck up a long hill in Pa. I thought boy we are making great time I looked at the speed O & said to myself no wonder we are going 100 MPH ~~ that can't be correct ~~ then she let out one heck of a squeal And started to work correct then the rest of the way home it would be ok then start to squeal and jump around. but never broke sounds like it needs a little lube. All in All I had a great great time. |

As I said, Vic, our son gets the credit for the pics. He took our car up to Blue Ridge for a ride on the scenic train on Friday while we did the tour.

[QUOTE=BILL WZOREK;970505]Got home about 5 p m yesterday & as you can see by the post time I slept in a bit.
( something I never do ) Bill, Marilyn and I are glad you and Chuck arrived safe & sound. After spending a few extra days in the mountains, we too returned home safely. We had a great time with everyone but gosh it seemed like the time we all had together just flew right by! We are already looking forward to next year's event. Steve

some more pic's of the fest. Somehow I only used 100 gal + or- of gas, one qt of oil, and points and condenser, not bad for 2000 miles. I Checked the plugs when I got home , they were pure white she needs more gas. Main metering jets are on the menu today. The only way to find out some of these things are to drive 'em.
