Default T-5 in place of a T-4

My 49 Ford F1 has a 4 speed in it now and I want to install a t-5. Will the T-5 replace the T-4 without modifications? It has the Speedway adapter.

not sure but I think the T-5 front shaft is longer than the T-4 and you may have the same issue with the tailshaft so you'd neeed to cut the driveshaft.

Guys on the HAMB can probably answer the lenght questions better than here.

It depends on which T4. Generally, yes, assuming the front is the same (input shaft, bolt pattern). However, realize that 5th gear lives in a bulge on the tailshaft housing that the T4 doesn't have (although I've heard anecdotal stories some T4 came with T5 tailhousings) and there could possibly be some interference here depending on your installation (unlikely as it's not a large bulge, just one more little dimensional difference).
