31 pickup a Budd?
I recently got a 31 PU that has a solid top in the cab and a metal floor in the box. No Ford embossed in the tailgate. Is it "put together" or a Budd?
If it is a Budd, is it rare or valuable? Thanks Bob (I'm new) |

Re: 31 pickup a Budd?
The pickup in my avitar is a Late '31 Budd Cab, but it has the short/narrow bed.

Pat's favorite nickname for me was "BUUUUUD"! BUT, that DIDN'T seem to make me more "VALUABLE"! Bud W.

Re: 31 pickup a Budd?
It sounds like a later '31 widebed. They had metal bed floors and no "Ford" embossed on the tail gate. AND at the very end they came with a steel top.

Re: 31 pickup a Budd?
The Budd cab debuted in August of '31 with production starting in September.
The visor is integral to the top and the rain gutters are spot welded to the roof. There are also two stamped steel bows that support the top. Note that the picture above has the "narrow bed" on it... -Tim |

Re: 31 pickup a Budd?
Henry's attitude toward using up existing parts provided some interesting combinations.
The late '31 pickups could be: Soft top or Steel top Flat firewall or Indented firewall Narrow bed or Wide bed In any combination of the above. Mine happens to be: Steel top, Indented firewall, Narrow bed. But I've seen quite a few other combinations.

Re: 31 pickup a Budd?
I haven't dated mine yet,I've only had it for 40 years, but its got the indented fire wall, hard round cab, and the wide bed,I'm hoping to get to it in the near future and get some work done on it.
