I have a 1984 V8 Shop catalog and the 1934 running boards are listed as part number 1201-B. There is no listing for individual boards, only in pairs at $325. I also checked my V8 Shop boards and no number appears on either box. Hope that is of help. Walt K. |

I have The V8 Shop catalogs for 1978 and 1983. Their running boards were listed under their own part number/catalog numbers, i.e. in the '83 catalog #1179-B were '33-'34 Ford complete running boards made at Ohio Rubber Co. No Ford PN's were given for these boards in the two catalogs that I have.

If you have a pair and they are new in the box you might compare them to the price of Drake's boards. The V-8 shop boards were made in America and the quality was excellent. They should sell for the same price as those made in China.

I would think that they would be worth way more than the Chinese boards with the (non-authentic) Drake logo stamped into them...

Interesting... Do Drake's 32 boards have the logo like the 33-34's?

I just bought a pair of these, they were advertised as new Bob Drakes but when I got them I saw the V8 shop logo (I got them fairly cheap). The fit/finish looks very nice, will see how well they fit. Has anyone ever installed these V8 boards and ran into fit problems?

40-16451-B is Ford's original part number for all '33-'34 L.H. running boards (except for early '33s). 40-16450-B was the part number for the R.H. board.

I used John Kovar's V8 Shop '34 boards in the late '70s.
Good product, fit right, looked good. |

I have used the V8 Shop 32 boards when John Kovar owned the shop. I used the V8 Shop boards when Jennie & Barry were running the shop and they even put the rubber on a pair of my original metal boards. The V8 Shop boards were smooth bottoms and did not have all of the small holes like the originals for the rubber to bond to. I have used Drakes boards too. They all fit good. Drake's boards as I remember had the correct number of pyramids on the surface and also had his name stamped on the under side which was an easy fill in. I think he puts his name on any part he can. That is my two cents worth and I don't want to say anymore since 32Gnu was mainly looking for an old V8 Shop catalog. I will add that Jennie is a First Class Lady.

I fit one on my boards last night. Aside from needing to drill the holes for the front and rear fenders and shaving a little rubber where the running board braces go they fit like a glove.
I will also say that Bob Drakes 33-34 running board braces do not fit AT ALL. Here I go again, needing major work to get a "out of the box" part to fit right (long sigh) ![]()
