Another A resurrected>>>Almost.
I drove my A to church a couple weeks back and afterward a friend approached me and said he had a PU that's been sitting since the 80's and he'd like to get it out and look at it. We made a date and here it is.
He though the brakes where locked up because he couldn't move it but it turns out the tires where just flat. It's got patina and character just like mine and funny it's located not to far from where I got mine. It's been converted to Hydraulic brakes, the wiring is shot, and not much compression. The engine number is odd: It's obviously missing the ★ before and after the number but it has 8 digits instead of 7. It looks to me like the 1 is not right but weird that it's in the middle of the number sequence. We have another date toward the end of this month to see if we can get it running. Going to do a compression check and wire only the ignition system. |

Well actually he might want to sell it. So I might have a new "cruiser" instead of "cruisin' Buddy". We'll see what happens when we try to get it running.

Thanks for the memories, I had almost forgotten that Chief, my Dad,was a HORN guy! He once had 3 musical horns with a colum mounted 3 button gizmo. He could play any tune that had only 3 notes! Any time he sold his driver, the horns DIDN'T go with the car! Bill W.

Re: Another A resurrected>>>Almost.
if it really has been sitting for 20 years, the hydraulic brakes will need to be totally redone. I would not try driving it with them the way they are.

Great weathered look. Is that a genuine '58 Chevy continental kit spare? Could be worth some real coin.

Neat truck. Looks like the front end has a camber issue.

Yes, a Delco, with a special lookin' adjustable regulator on the firewall. Looks like he did a good job installing individual horn relays. I would leave everything intact & just clean everything nicely. Amazing things can be done by just hand cleaning & detailing & masking off & painting any sorta' bad lookin' areas. The underhood changes add old time charm! Bill W.

Chief would probably say, "My horns are to get them dang "T's" out of the way, and to get Old Man Monk's stupid mule, that grazes the grass in the middle of the dirt road, out of the way!" He said that years before in the night, in a Model T with no lights, he ran into that same stupid mule, sleeping in the middle of the road and killed his motor. While cranking it, Old Monk was shooting at them with a shotgun loaded with rock salt! The mule was reputed to be 57 years old! I think Chief & Elbert had been sampling MOONSHINE! Bill W.

Re: Another A resurrected>>>Almost.
Sounds like a rational explanation for the upgraded horn system. He's an Ole joke for you Norwegians.
Ole asked the mechanic to fix his horn. "why?" he asked. "your horn hasn't worked for months." "I know." Ole replied, "but my brakes went out."
