Default Frame siderail to radiator mounting pad gap or not...

What I am looking for is to see if the front cross member, at the radiator mounting pad, is "flush" with the frame rail OR if the front crossmember radiator mounting pad is "below" the frame side rail. This is on late 1928 and 1929 frames only! If the front crossmember radiator mounting pad is "below" the frame side rail, then there should be about 1/8 of an inch gap in that area. That is measuring across both the frame side rail and the radiator mounting pad. If not, then it should be flush.

It was reported on the Part Release of January 30, 1929 for the A-5020-A Front Crossmember (PR# 11861) that there were "Added two bosses, 5/32 (inches) high around holes for the radiator bolts and changed shape at the top of rear flange".

Please email me with your findings including engine number for which is on the frame itself and if there is a 1/8 inch gap or not so we can try to determine about when this change happened on the front cross member.

Thanks.

Pluck

Steve, I will be pulling my radiator probably today so I can measure mine. My frame # is A510648 Oct. 1928. Is that in the time period that you want? If so, do I lay the straight edge on both sides of the frame and measure down to the radiator support area?

Ben,

Yes...that is what I want...right across both holes on the front cross member radiator mounting pad with the stright edge on the frame side rails, left and right.

I am hoping enough folks will send me information to get an idea just when this change happened.

Thanks Ben.

See my personal message. Flat on mine except for the height of the frame that is above the cross member (about 1/8").
