Re: The Lee Roy Hartung Collection Auction = Chicago
I have known Lee for over forty years. His collection is amazing and will make for an interesting auction! I know there are 3 Model A bodies in excellent condition as my brother looked at them a couple of weeks ago. Bring Money it will not go cheap but it will be a great auction,

If they hold it on his property, there is really no where to park the bidders (as I anticipate a lot of them). They could bring the cars outside and sit them out there but not sure how that will work too well. The AA Paddy Wagon is what I'm interested in and it is way in the back. So if they do sell in the order they pull things out, it will be one of the last. -Tim |

Where did all these cars come from? Being here in the area cars are beat and worn in very short order. Just wondering.

Still trying to find out if the meseum is open. Their web site shows they are open Saturday and Sunday. No one answers the phone and I left a message but no reply. One of my high school buddies will be in town Saturday and we would sure like to see the collection before it all split up.

Hi Tom, I don't really know, but if the auction people are in there, the museum is probably closed for logging of stuff. I don't know how they could log everything prior to November actually. That is a lot of stuff. Just a good guess.

Re: The Lee Roy Hartung Collection Auction = Chicago
Does anyone have any idea as to just how they can sell all these items? If you packed all the household items from five rooms into one I think you would have the same problem, but a sofa and an automobile move differently.

Re: The Lee Roy Hartung Collection Auction = Chicago
Just wondering are there lots of Model A parts in the collection or just vehicles? Might be a place to find the special brackets I need for the top of my April 1929 Business Coupe, the ones that the short center bow attach to that allow for the oval windows. I can't make the auction or Hershey this year but would glady reinburse a Fordbarner for the cost of the brackets plus a nice finders fee!

Re: The Lee Roy Hartung Collection Auction = Chicago
Well it sounds like Jay Leno or someone of simular caliber will probably pay close to 1 million for the twin-grilled Lincoln. The Varities seems like it would be pretty rare also. I'm going to guess 2.9 million.
My original quesiton however is what this 'museum' would have sold for BEFORE the auction, if someone could have purchased it whole. I think the auction will bring a little more than just a big group deal. So does anyone know if this estate is being handled by family or laywers or??? Whould there have been someone or an individual to whom someone could have made an offer, OR is this auction part of the will? Just curious. I too think it is too bad that it can't stay as a group, although there will be a LOT of happy people as a result of the auction. |

If I had a dollar for every "Jay Leno offered $1 million, but I told pound sand..." story, I'd have $1 million!
