brake light issue with my 55 Fairlane.
Hi All,
My brake lights stopped working, and I know bulbs dont blow in pairs. Im assuming the module under my booster is the culprit. Is it easy to replace and where I can find one? Thanks... ted.

If it’s the hydraulic switch you’re talking about, wait till someone gives you the Harley Davidson part number. Apparently more reliable than the chi-com replacements sold thru the Ford sources.

To test the hydraulic switch, remove the wires on it and connect them. If the lights work, the switch is the problem.

Re: brake light issue with my 55 Fairlane.
You can test the switch with a meter set it on the continuity sounds and have someone hit it. Maybe just clean the connectors there.
The point is at the turn signal switch. If you did and work down there you might have disturbed the connectors. The other way to check to see if it's the switch is to just bypass it and touch the two line together and the brakes should light. |

Hi Ted, I had this happen about 5 years back, brake lights just stopped working (but blinkers and parking lights were good) ... the test mentioned by Paul2748 is the clearest way to pin point the issue, then check if its not the wires at the connection as Abe mentioned. I bought the replacement at Napa, its a common part and was in stock at that time. It was a very easy fix, the info for the part I used is below. Stoplight Switch PART # :ECH SL134 PRODUCT LINE : Echlin Ignition
