1916 couplet
saw one of these yesterday. restored in the 1970s.
nice looking car that needs some redoing. this is the one where the back folds down like a landau. saw a beautiful one listed on HCCA a few months back and it had trouble reaching 15k. how rare are these? are there no buyers for this model? the one I saw yesterday was on beautiful wire wheels. Painted white, and peeling paint. |

Re: 1916 couplet
Coupelets are quite rare. They did not sell well when originally offered, and by 1916, the price of the car was lowered and they sold better. From my research, there seems to be around 60 coupelets still around, and the 15K price you quote is very low. It seems that the price of the car today is determined upon the rarity and the quality of the restoration. Here is a photo of my 1916 coupelet. Russ Furstnow

Re: 1916 couplet
thank you Russ- beautiful car!
question, is there a reason the headlight rims arent brass? did it depend on the time of the yr? |

Re: 1916 couplet
My car was produced in January 1916, and in June 1915, all the brass trim on the lights was eliminated. I've attached some information about the introduction of the 1916 model from the "Ford Sales Bulletin" dated November 1915. I hope this helps, Russ Furstnow

Allen,
So interesting...my wife and I lived in Smokerise from 1976-1980 on Moccasin Way. It is a small world! Russ Last edited by Russ Furstnow; 05-20-2024 at 07:52 AM. |

Re: 1916 couplet
The coupelet pictured above is a 1917 Ford. The 1916 and 1917 coupelets, while similar, have quite a number different features. This car is for sale and has been discussed on the MTFCA Forum Classified Vehicles section. I hope this helps, Russ Furstnow

Re: 1916 couplet
1916 was the last of the brass model Ts even though they had reduced brass use that year. They still had a brass radiator and door handles.

Here's a link to the 2022 listing on the MTFCA site. There's a link in the first post on that site to lots of pictures.
