1959 Ranchero turn signal & horn combo switch
Hello all, I don’t post here much so please pardon my imposing but I am at my wits end. I appeal to the powers that be as I was looking to replace the turn signal & horn combo switch on my 59 Ranchero, why not play it safe right?
Not. It turned out only the cam cancel plate was broken so I ordered a new one. The new one is different than what is in the car. I searched for a matching cam plate and found a match, but it is listed for Econoline (& others). Notice the orientation of the oval hole is 90 degrees out. I ordered it and it looks like a match. I went to install it and lost one of the tumblers. Perfect. I found #B9A-13341-A on the auction site and it ‘looks’ very similar to mine except for the orientation of the oval hole. I’m concerned that if I splurge the 200 bux on this switch, the turn signal stalk won’t be in the correct position. Could this steering column have been swapped in from another model? There’s about 6” between the dash and the back of the switch housing portion of the column. If so, then what? I also noticed on many other models the switch is sold separately without the horn contact ring. These are priced reasonably. I’m guessing this one is non separable due to the fact that the plastic switch is crimped onto the metal frame. I have done Extensive searches using the stock number B9A-13341-A as well as just 13341 to see what pops up. The way I see it I have four options. 1) Take a chance and buy the stupid expensive one with the matching part number and cobble up a stalk 2) Install an aftermarket clamp on signal switch (of which I have two) and risk a wiring nightmare. 3) try to 3D print a new tumbler and wrap it with brass like the original. 4) Screw the whole thing and just use hand signals. What would you do?? Jimmy V Edit: trying to load pics Last edited by Adriatic Machine; 05-02-2024 at 03:03 PM. Reason: Trying to load pictures |

Some pictures to make a little sense of it all. I believe the correct part number is Standard TW78C I’m not sure if the pics are very clear

Here is shown an OEM TSS. https://www.ebay.com/itm/13427544824...dTnYw&LH_BIN=1 View and save the photos and get back. It may be that a previous owner installed a 'whatever' due to the cost. On the harness leading down the column may be an ID STICKER as shown in the photos. If you can find that it will narrow it down as to what actually the switch is in the car. Maybe this will help - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DT_nV101jo0

[QUOTE=KULTULZ;2308641]I LIKE THAT!
[Here is shown an OEM TSS. View and save the photos and get back. It may be that a previous owner installed a 'whatever' due to the cost. On the harness leading down the column may be an ID STICKER Maybe this will help] Thank you! Yes the video verifies there are more than one design switch for this car and the fleabay link shows a close up picture which is the same as mine. I contacted the seller of the new switch with my concern. Maybe I can get away with the new switch and machine up a 90 degree offset stalk pivot. Yes I have a repop shop manual, wiring diagrams that came with the new wiring and I just got an oversized laminated full color diagram too. Thanks again Jimmy V |

Are you certain the EvilBay switch is not correct?

Re: 1959 Ranchero turn signal & horn combo switch
Well I paid my way out of the rabbit hole. I bought the aftermarket one from fleabay, I’ll report back when I get it installed.
The NOS one you shared is exactly like mine, but I decided to go with the other one because it is brand new and and 75 bux cheaper. Last edited by Adriatic Machine; 05-03-2024 at 09:49 PM. |

Found it. Crisis averted. Notice the placement of the tumblers
