33 Tudor turn signals
I plan on installing turn signals on my 33 ahead of this years driving season using LEDs. I already have the taillight LEDs. I want to use the cowl lamps as the front turn signals, they don’t necessarily have to be a dual function as a cowl lamp. Turn signals are my main concern. Is the 3” cowl lamp one big lamp or is there a small replaceable bulb inside? If not, are LED cowl lamps available? I understand I’ll need a special flasher to handle the LEDs. Any and all help appreciated.
For you judging naysayers I’m looking at functionality, not points on the concourse.

Re: 33 Tudor turn signals
There is a standard single filament bulb and socket in the cowl lamp.

Tim
Should be a pretty easy installation all in all for you. We did the same thing on our 32 with a little clever thought it can be a pretty hard to notice conversion sans the turn signal indicator housing and arm. |

Re: 33 Tudor turn signals
For a turn switch look at the early VW turn switch. They clamp right on the column and look like they might have come from the Ford factory.

Re: 33 Tudor turn signals
Just for the judging folks; '33 cowl lamps are a bit longer than the '34s. I checked my Vintiques and they are '33s !!! Newc

Re: 33 Tudor turn signals
This definitely will not just clamp on to the column.

Re: 33 Tudor turn signals
The 53-59 ones work and so do some of the VW bus units into the early 60s.

Re: 33 Tudor turn signals
I once used a 49 Ford switch on a 48 Ford. It had a cancellation lever screwed to the back side of the steering wheel. It transferred over to the 48 no problem. It was heavy chrome and a Ford oval on the frontside.
