Sun visor for passenger
This is something I would like to do for the passenger, usually my wife.
Is it possible to retrofit a sun visor inside of the windshield that is not tacky-looking (as my kids say, ghetto)? My wife is losing her sight and needs to keep her eyes out of direct sun as much as possible. And yes, she wears sunglasses, a sub visor would be extra protection. My intent is to make the ride in our Model A comfortable and enjoyable for my wife while preserving her vision. Just curious. Last edited by philcobill; 09-04-2023 at 01:15 PM. |

Re: Sun visor for passenger
The 1932 Fords had a simple sun visor that was made of a material very much like a clip board (textured masonite) and it had simple formed heavy wire bracketry to mount and hinge from. A person would need a solid attach point but it could likely be done. A lot depends on which body and rear of manufacture as to how something could be successfully mounted.

Re: Sun visor for passenger
There is a window/windshield "film" that has different tint values that cling to the glass surface (static), without an adhesive having to be applied. A Corvette club that I belonged to had the club name/logo applied, these were used for club functions or tours. Easily applied, and removed if not needed or wanted for your outing. This could be applied as an aid for your passenger, and removed when not needed. Just a thought.. kb

Re: Sun visor for passenger
There was an article in the MAFCA Restorer within the last couple of years on making some nice-looking sun visors. The author did it for his '30 coupe but I would imagine the '29 would be similar.

Re: Sun visor for passenger
Several websites offer product for Car One-Way Window Film, fitting to your windshield for installation would be required to fill your needs. As stated, the product we used was cut to window large decal size for club name/logo, easily removed for "judging" scenarios.

Re: Sun visor for passenger
The photo sows the sun visors in my Victoria, and they are the same as in the slant windshield Town Sedan. It will be expensive to install reproduction sun visors in your car, so I recommend that you find a modern aftermarket setup.
