Not that I've seen either of these carbies here but what is the venturi size in each of them?

I have 3 94's on my 41 flathead and the biggest problem is if you backfire the engine, you can take off the carb and put in a new one. Also all the new power valves have a radius on the seat of the valve and will not seal. Also 94 or 97 only 2.5 pounds fuel pressure max.

I am putting 97's on my 41 and I am starting to buy, overhaul and resell 94's and eventually 97's

Don’t see why you have to change them on a backfire… the power valve receives its signal below the throttle plates but it doesn’t sit in the line of fire. There are more than one issue with using late power valves on 94’s, the height of the valve can be different, on install it forces the valve open,as well as seal issues caused by the radius on the seat.. crack pressures aren’t accurate on the cheapo ones too..get a good valve and it’s a great carburetor..
