Pedal bushings
Ok, so I have some REALLY loose pedals. There is a ton of play in them. I am about to embark on doing some work on the brakes finally and know I'm going to have to address this very weak point.
How hard is this and what am I looking out for? How do I know if my pedals are worth putting new bushings in? Do I need to be looking for wear on the pedal shaft? I'm keen to do this myself, but I really don't want to have to remove the bell housing unless it's absolutely necessary right now. What are some tips and tricks for doing this well? |

Re: Pedal bushings
If the pedal shaft is not seriously worn you might get away with Rebushing the pedals. I would start there. That should tell you if you need to go further. Needs to be done anyway. Chassis grease is your friend. There is a modification to add zerks to the early pedals to keep the interface lubed.

Re: Pedal bushings
If your pedals are loose, your pedal shaft most certainly is worn as well and both will need attention. I sent you a private message

Re: Pedal bushings
Read that private message, it’s going to help you tremendously!! The next step is to know how much wear is in the rest of the brake system and clutch.

Petals removed and the retaining collar replaced, use it like a "expanding annular jack." Perhaps that was the content of the "secret message?" Seemingly not. Another possibly easier method I hear. Joe K
