Default Steering worm gear bearing

I am rebuilding my 7 tooth steering box and want to make dure to put the thrust bearings in correctly. Which side goes against the bushing and which agsinst thw worm gear? Thanks.

When assembling those 7 tooth steering boxes, it is important that there be NO end play in the shaft, yet it turns with little drag. To get a really good engagement between the worm and sector, those with the equipment and know how make eccentric sector shaft bushes to get optimal engagement between the two.
The 7 tooth steering box seems to have a bad reputation but if assembled with care, they are actually quite good.

The thrust should be away from the worm both top and bottom.

Thanks, that is what I figured. The cup turns with the worm and the inner face is against the bushings. Probably not critical as the steering box is low speed and light load. These are the same as the king pin bearings which are also low speed but much higher load.
