Running Stand
Anyone produce a modest running stand for Model-As? I kinda hate to chop up a good frame... I have a welder, but I am far from being able to weld (if you know what I mean)

Running Stand
I’ve seen some pictures of engine “stands” made from wood (probably pieces of 2x6’s) on this site a while back. Would wood work for you?

Re: Running Stand
Schwalm's makes a fine running engine stand. I bought one in 2018 at Hershey. It is a well built stand.

Re: Running Stand
I've heard of SBC engine stands being converted for use w/model A engines.

Re: Running Stand
Gene, what is the real reason for this stand? Is it for a one time use, -or for testing many engines, ....or ???

Re: Running Stand
My engine stand.
It started out as just something temporary to test one engine. Everything was left over stuff I had around the shop except for the casters and muffler. Chris W. |

Re: Running Stand
For me, this was just another phase I went through on my Model A journey. I eventually never made the stand, realizing that all I really needed to do was mount the engine on the frame I was working on, and using the time I might have applied to trying to figure out the stand problem would be better applied to the restoration. And so it was.

I always wanted one and have used it for several engines. I now have 2 friends who each will be putting together one of the "New" engines and want to run them in on my stand. It is also good to have an engine on the stand so when Model A friends come by the shop, we can start the engine and stand there and watch it run, like we have never seen a Model A engine run before. I now have my original Cragar Model B Engine on the stand that I just got running last week. Chris W. |

Re: Running Stand
Well I'd like to say for just 1 engine, but the things are addictive. I brought another one home Saturday, so now I have 2.
