2nd appeal for modern Rubelite Red Paint code
While my previous request for Rubelite Red paint code got a lot of responses (for which I am appreciative), I never got an actual code.
The local paint shops were not able to use Dupont code - RS536 to come up with anything in modern base coat color. If anyone has a modern code I would appreciate you sharing it with me. Thank You. |

Probably because most restorers don't use base-clear when they are restoring. DuPont is no longer in the paint business either, which is why they likely could not cross-reference it. How I would approach something like this is to find a PPG jobber store. Have them call the PPG library and obtain the formula for their DBU line. If you do not wish to go that way, find a paint jobber that has a spectrophotometer where they can scan the chip in the Model-A Ford Paint & Refinish guide and mix from there. |

Re: 2nd appeal for modern Rubelite Red Paint code
For my maroon 1930 Fordor I cut out a portion of the chip from the Model-A Ford Paint & Refinish guide and sent it off to https://tcpglobal.com/. They charged me $60 to color match the chip and $129.96 for a quart of acrylic enamel. A quart will last a long time as I am only going to use it for touchup. I have not received the paint yet, it gets shipped across the country by Ox cart. The chip was a little lighter than the paint on my car so if it does not quite match I will add some black which I already have.

Re: 2nd appeal for modern Rubelite Red Paint code
My CCPU is painted with single stage NASON PAINT RUBELITE RED. PAINT CODE CG 596 1FG.
It’s the same code for the basecoat clearcoat. My body man/painter has used NASON paint for 25 years on Model A’s and other Classic cars and swears by it. It’s been 5 years since it was painted. I have had zero issue with it and am totally satisfied with its durability. Last edited by GPierce; 02-25-2021 at 08:06 PM. |

Re: 2nd appeal for modern Rubelite Red Paint code
We went to the local paint jobber and gave him the paint code CG 596 1FG. We told him it was a Nason paint code. He came up with nothing. He even contacted the regional office and they said the number doesn't show up in any of their computers or books.
Am I missing something? Is there another bit of information that was missing that I should know? Thank you. |

The paint code was from the local NASON paint distributor who scanned the chip. My painter has mix code. |

You should visit TCP Global web site. I was able to find Rubelite Red paint from that supplier. Available in any type you wish.

Can you post a link to TCP Global Showing that? All I could find was Mercedes Rubelite red on TCP’s web site. Not sure that is the same as the Ford Rubelite Red.

Re: 2nd appeal for modern Rubelite Red Paint code
I have the numbers for OMNI,taken off the label on the can.It says, brand code,3954.OEM code,7DNAXXA,EM,M6153A,MX7071034.Ford North America,48 Ford commercial red-rubelite red. When I had it mixed the paint guy said, hey, this translates into a Model A color too,Rubelite red.He also told me the it is probably not really either color exactly, but close to both. This paint was mixed,12-23-2001.I was looking for a subdued red in the fleet color chart, and liked the 48 Ford commercial red.I don't agonize over color,I can pretty much throw a dart at a chip chart and be happy.
