What is the correct color of black for a 1939 banjo steering wheel? I have seen them restored in a gloss black and I have seen them in a mat black. Trying to finish a high point car and need to know the correct black.

The banjo steering wheel in a '39 deluxe is not painted black. The hub of the wheel was painted Zephyr Beige and the rim was painted Oyster Gray. This information comes from the Early Ford V-8 Club's '38-'39 book page #3-13. If you don't have this book you should buy it if you intend to restore a '39 Ford as a high point car.

TJ is correct. Here are photos of two 1939 Deluxe models I've restored. Rest assured these are correct and high point cars.

ALL of my restorations can be driven with confidence. When I get a bit further on the current project, I will post more photos of what I do in places no one will ever see again. Bottom line? I don't skimp...

You'll be happy with the '38-'39 book. It will give you some great info on your project. Good luck on your restoration. '39 Deluxes are beautiful cars.

Somewhat color related, is the metal frame for a 1939 convertible also Oyster Gray? Can someone (Kube's I'm guessing) provide the paint code for Oyster Gray?
