Hi,
Can you please tell me the difference between a '32, '33, and '34 truck bed? I'd appreciate the help. Thank you! |

One of the differences is the location of the wheel wells for mounting the fenders is back 6 inches to allow for the 33/34s longer wheelbase. Also gas filler out the drivers side behind the rear fender.

Here are couple of pictures I borrowed off the Internet. The bed with no floor (normally a steel floor backed by wooden boards) is a 1934 bed. The standup beds (at a swap meet) allow a comparison to be made between 1932 and 1934 beds, (note wheel position, '34 is more symetrical). The 48 bed is a bonus.

I think it's five inches difference, but what's an inch between friends...

Two easy ways to spot a '32 bed at a glance: The dip in the bead right in front of the fender, way down low, has a rivet right in it. And the clearance hump for the shock arm has a square shape instead of a triangle shape.
'33's have about six inches of horizontal bead at the lower point in front of the fender (and no rivet in the middle), and the shock arm must take up less room. |

I've never measured them just took a guess based on the wheel base of the 32 being 106 and the 33/34 being 112. Please explain how the 5 inch measurement comes into play. does it have something to do with the placement of the cab, now I'm curious?

Yes, because of the deeper firewall, the cab sets back a little further. The way I found out was that I shortened a 34 bed for my 32 RPU. I had to take out 5" in front of the wheel well.

You can see by this photo the longer length between the cab and the rear fender.
You can see it can't you? Byron W.

It happens to be that I have a 32 and a 33 pickup in the garage right now. I am helping a friend with his 32 pu so it is in my garage. Here are the pics of the main differences I can see .
1933 Truck Bed When I measure the bottom of the bed from the the fender to the front of the bed, I get 13 1/2" on the 33 1932 Pick up bed When I measure the bottom of the bed from the the fender to the front of the bed, I get 8 1/4" on the 32 The beds are exactly the same length 33 bed 70 3/4 " Sorry for the blury pic but you get the idea ![]() the 32 bed Same as 33, 70 3/4" 33 bed rear 32 pickup rear 33 inner fender as mentioned before 32 inner fender bed And because of the inner fender difference there is a bump on the inside of both sides of the bed on the 33 and not on the 32 pickup bed From what I can see , the beds a re very much the same. The corners, the molding, the rivets, etc etc . You can see by the pictures they both seem to have the same details , just in different spots to accommodate for the longer wheel base of the 33. The 32 is a 106" Wheelbase and the 33 is 112". Let me know if we need for pictures since both are right next to each other . Last edited by 1932 V8; 03-03-2016 at 01:39 PM. |

anyone know if the front panel (one closest to the cab) for the 34 pickup bed is reproduced? Also are the stake pockets reproduced?
