Default New manufacturer of aluminum heads?

Just received catalog showing new high compression heads for flathead V-8 offered by TRICK FLOW. Wonder if Ol'Ron, Walt Dupont or JWL has looked at them yet.

Guess they "flow" more water, no new spark plug location and combustion chamber design?

I will reserve judgement until I see the business side of these heads. I'm not looking for a head that flows more water, or features a variety of surface finishes.

Id be surprised if somebody has come up with anything different ,after all the thousands of hours poured into flathead design over the decades. But, fair play to them, they've tooled up and given people another option.

I can NOT be 100 percent certain but it does look as though the spark plug location has been altered from stock to avoid exhaust valve contact.

I wish they(TFS) would send a set for evaluation purposes. (GRIN)

To produce a new set of heads, I think the application is most omportan. 90% would probably be for street use, therefore economy would be an important issue. AS JWL says, testing is the only way to determine the results. I think the best location for the spark plyg is at an 8deg angle in the center of the transfer area, at least, that's where i'd put it.

I called Trick Flow and the person I talked to said there were no real performance advantages to the heads other than they flowed more water.

So, 'flowing more water' should remove more heat, right? Which results in lower combustion chamber temperatures, right? Which in turn leads to less power output, right?
