Second oil pressure gauge
Hi guys
Bear with me with these novice questions. Am I correct that, if I remove the plug shown in picture. That would be the proper place to add a second oil pressure gauge? If yes what brand and gauge would you recommend? Sorry pic is upside down. |

Re: Second oil pressure gauge
That's the spot and any brand mechanical gage that suits you as to size and how it looks.

Re: Second oil pressure gauge
If you relocate your original oil pressure sender down to that plug location and mount your second gauge in the top hole it will stand upright and be staring you right in the face for easy reading.

Re: Second oil pressure gauge
I did what johndee138 is talking about. Here's my setup with two $18.00 gauges from Auto Zone. Work fine.
For the oil pressure gauge I removed the stock sender shown in your picture, put a T under it for the mechanical gauge sensor tube to screw into the side, and replaced the stock sender on top. Still looks stock other than the little white capillary tube coming out from under the stock sender and through the steering column hole into the car.

Here's a picture of the T under the stock sender where my mechanical gauge attaches.

Re: Second oil pressure gauge
Prof you pic has got me asking another question. Where I have a plug, you have a line coming out going towards front of car.
What is that for? |

Re: Second oil pressure gauge
I think a mechanical gauge is a must on any engine you care about. The last thing one needs is a situation where you have an incorrect reading - due to an issue in your electrical system and/or wiring. Good to see you're putting one on.
Also, nice work by the gang here on adding gauges and making them inconspicuous to the casual observer - nice work! D |
