39 Ford Pickup wheel problem/conversion

Is there a wheel 10.25 to 5.0 bolt circle conversion plate?? I'm considering doing a wheel/tire conversion.

Pulled truck out of storage and came up with a shimmy at 30 mph. Checkout revealed problem with a front wheel and add to that distorted tires //out-of-round. Wheels are 16x4 with 5 bolt 10.25 circle. Tires are 8 years old, should have put the truck up on blocks for the winter.

The truck is 90% original and hate to convert things but may need to be necessary.

Wide five wheels are still pretty easy to find because they do not make aftermarket drums, a lot of guys I know discard them for that reason. The tires alone might be your culprit. I have a set of 35 wires on my coupe and one year the front end would really bounce around 40mph. Changed and balanced the new Firestone 16's and no more problems.

Speedway sells them, about $55 each. I bought one to use the center hole so they could balance my wide five wheel/tires.

Speedway Motors sell the adapter at least to 4.5 & 4.75 from 10.25.The studs are 5/8 on their adapter so you will need those lug nuts which they sell also.

I would not spend the money on the converters, just fine true wheels and get yourself a new set of tires.

It might get better with more usage as the tyres lose their flat spotting from standing. Get them nice and warm. Try putting the rears on the front and vice versa.

There is not an adaptor available that will allow the use of other wheels on those hubs. People just swap out the hubs for the later type with the 5x5.5" pattern. (40-48 style.)

What is available (as said) is a plate to bolt those wide 5 wheels onto a modern axle. As stated people buy these so they can use them to adapt a wide 5 wheel onto a balancing machine. They can not be used the other way round to put a later wheel onto one of those hubs.

Keep the wheels if you can. Personally I like the wide 5s.

I put on Bridgestone 195/80/16 radials and balanced them on the wide fives. Love them.
Same size as 600-16s.
Cheap too.
