What does it do?
I'm thinking this is 40's truck, but what is the purpose? My first thought was clutch, but can't find info about it. Thanks.

Re: What does it do?
Yeh, I also thought the same thing. Just haven't found it referenced anywhere. Even Vanpelt's didn't list it that I could find.

Re: What does it do?
Parts book says fork & roller assy (sliding clutch shift) trucks except 122"(WB) 1940-1944. On page 111 of the "green bible" you'll see it. Part of a two speed axle on a big truck.

Re: What does it do?
I was pretty heavy into the obsolete parts in the late 80's until I got into the Ford business. I really don't recall seeing that part so you either have something real valuable or something that never breaks that nobody needs! I've kept all of my parts
books from 1928-79 and if nothing else they are handy to see how something fits together. |

Re: What does it do?
I just bought a "re-print" green bible on eBay. I figure I've asked plenty of silly questions on here. At least now I will ask fewer silly questions....)

On the contrary! You'll discover all sorts of new questions to ask!

Re: What does it do?
What about a fork for a throw out bearing on a big truck? That's what it looks like to me.

Try Faxon's in Riverside, CA. They have a reprint or it on CD. I recommend the hard copy, not that much more and much easier to navigate, IMO.
