Default Polishing clay

Quick question regarding the clay used to remove grit on a car's finish. Is this the same type of clay that is commonly found in hobby shops and toy stores or is it a "special" type of clay?

Thanks

Tom

The stuff I have used in the "clay bar kits" is a little firmer than the stuff used by kids from the toy store.

No idea what it is made of, but from my experience it works well and is nothing like hobby store clay.

I use Meguires clay bar. Even with a "clean finish" you'll be surprised how much dirt comes off on the clay bar. So smooth I have trouble getting a car cover to stay on!

Clay is a wonderful for detailing, but the new synthetic 'clay' pads are easier to use, plus if you drop it on the ground, just wash it off and go back to work. When clay hits the ground it needs to go into the trash.
