pedal pads where they put on originally

I bought these pads 25 years ago and have not put them on yet.
if I do I will have to boil in water to soften to stretch on.
where these factory installed??

I had a new pair of red pedal pads that I installed on my 29 Tudor. The steel knob on the pedal poked through the red pad within days.

never really thought pads necessary but will try to install.
they can always be removed .

As has been said, the rubber pads were not a factory item; they were offered as an accessory, to be put on buy the owner. They do offer quite a bit more 'grab' to the pedal surface, which helps with control of the pedal.

A side benefit is that they protect the metal from wear. And for those who have old original petals, worn smooth by 50 years of wear, the rubber pads both hide the worn pedals and provide renewed grabbing power for the bottom of the driver's shoe.

For those of us in the less than sunny climate, the pedal pads help keep snowy shoes/boots from slipping on the metal pedals.

Lots of folks use them to cover up wear on the pedals also.
They are a safer alternative than the raw metal. IMHO
But I never use them!!

My pedal were 'slicker than snot' especially with leather-soled dress shoes. I could really only drive in sneakers. The rubber pads significantly improved control. They feel so natural now, I forget they are there.

Wow, did not know that.....I find it hard to believe they weren't a factory item....every time your shoes were wet you had to be slipping off!

For the taller guys you have to lift your legs a little higher to get on the pedals. Might not seem like much but it does make a difference. When related to the Model A being tall isn't always what it's cracked up to be.

Tom - I know how you feel. I bought a new pair of PF Flyers because the soles on my New Balance shoes were too thick, and made it hard for me to get my size 15 wide on the clutch. I may just take the pedal pad off of the clutch on my '30 Town Sedan to give me a little extra room.
