Default Roadster top bows

I am working on my 1929 Roadster Pickup with an original set of top bows. The filler material in the tacking ares has gone the way, I am sure, most has gone. Is there a good and relatively easy way to replace that material?

Soak thin wooden slats in hot water. Stack them up and shape the stack to fit the end opening of the top bow. They will form around the bend of the bow while being pushed into the opening. Allow to dry and tack the top material.

I used lepages constuction glue in a caulking gun ,try it first on a piece of wood and let sit overnight and try tacks in it .it worked for me on an RPU.
this was in the narrow channels not the rear corners.
