31 Slant window town sedan visors
Question. Did "sun visors" come a standard equipment on a 1931 Slant window Town Sedan (160B)? Or were they optional?

Re: 31 Slant window town sedan visors
When I restored my Slant T/S in 2010, I bought a pair from L-B.

Re: 31 Slant window town sedan visors
Through my survey replies...not all SW Sedans had TWO visors....several replies indicated that on some original cars there were only ONE and in later inspection of the passenger wood block,,,there NO holes for mounting. I suspect that there might have been a supply problem.

I wonder if the standard Fordor came with only one for the driver, while the more delux Fordors came with two sun visiors? |

The 160-B & C were announced March 2, 1931 and initial production at the Rouge followed within the week. The interior trim options were brown Bedford Cord and brown Mohair. They had a single fold down visor for the driver, pocket in the right cowl cardboard (similar to deluxe Roadster), and a large pocket with cover flap on the back of the front seat. There were NO pockets on the doors. In April the branches provided the dealers with the part numbers to special order the right visor if desired. During May 1931 the interior was revised. Although not directly related (that I know of), the timing of the change closely corresponds with the change to the indented firewall. The new interior dropped the pockets on the right cowl and the rear of the front seat, replaced with pockets on all four doors, and made the right side visor standard. Although the brown mohair was continued, the bedford cord was replaced with textured (striped) tan broadcloth with artificial leather trim. This continued for the remainder of production.

Re: 31 Slant window town sedan visors
I just bought a late 31 indented firewall standard slant window and it has the brackets for both visors.

Re: 31 Slant window town sedan visors
Tom... In responce to my survey, the 160-A none indicated 1 visor and 5 indicated 2 visors. while on the 160-B 3 indicated 1 visor and 16 replied with 2 visors. This is out of 43 survey returns. the rest either had no indication or replied with a zero to the question. Over the years I have sent over 200 surveys out both via e-mail and snail mail. I feel that an educated opinion could only be made after at least 100 replies. It is a struggle

Re: 31 Slant window town sedan visors
It's very possible that my 31 S/W T/S with flat firewall came from the factory with only one inside visor. The car was parked since 1957 when I bought it, and someone had removed the visor from the driver's side and nailed 3 sides to it about 1 1/2" high. They then secured it to the passenger side to use as a map pocket, etc. in the same spot the visor would mount.

Re: 31 Slant window town sedan visors
My flat firewall Town Sedan (160B) has 2 visors. Front seat pocket, RH kick panel pocket and no center arm rest in back seat. Number is A4127XXX. Pretty early I think.
