Re: muffler
I have the short Porter mufflers. Not real loud but a very mellow rumble.
276 with a mild cam. John

Re: muffler
Danny, how did you do the bends and is that stainless.
I will have to make one for the 34, as I took it off today to adjust its a small amount and see it has a couple pin holes in it. You steering boxes are done, they are just at Haydens waiting to be painted Lawrie |

Re: muffler
To bring out the sound of a real strong flathead eliminate the mufflers altogether.

Re: muffler
1.75" pipe and short (around 16" or less) glass packs (or Porters).

Re: muffler
Mine came with what I call glass packs, not ID on them. I'll see how they sound first. Well first will be starting the rebuilt engine with no mufflers.

Re: muffler
Lawrie the bends are mandrel bends I purchased on eBay. Yes they’re stainless and they were easy to weld with my mig. The tube I purchased from midway metals in Townsville. It was way cheaper than any exhaust shop could do. Ps there was a couple of tweaks I needed to do and I had to adjust the 2.5” rollers in my manual pipe bender so I could do minor pipe bends without distorting the tube. It sounds great on the 35 engine you built for me.
