Default Remember Pearl Harbor
December 7, 1941 a day which will live in infamy. Well maybe. I'd guess most folks have already forgotten that infamous deed.

In honor of Pearl Harbor Day, lets see some 1941 Fords and Ford military equipment in this post.

I will start, Actually for a "war time" vehicle...this one is "pre" WWII and "pre" Pearl Harbor. Date of Delivery of 9/8/1941 and the "First" production Jeep for Ford. Unfortunately, I cannot celebrate with a drive and show-off as the motor is back out of it for re-repair.....BUT in honor of Dec 7th and this post!!!

My dad's family took delivery of their new tractor Saturday, and spent the day getting it set up. Sunday was beautiful weather so my dad, grandfather, and two brothers were eager to start learning how to work the new toy... Until, at 10:00 am pacific time my grandmother came running out of the house with the news "The Japanese are bombing Pearl Harbor!".


My grandfather, a WW1 veteran (wounded by gas at Verdun) served as an officer in the "Oregon Guard", the last line of defense of people too old, or too young to be active military. My grandmother served as a airplane spotter in the Guard. My dad served in the Guard during high school (and may have seen a causality from a Japanese balloon bomb), enlisted in the Navy after graduating high school but was still in training when Japan surrendered.

A cousin of mine was serving on a minesweeper in the harbor that day and fortunately was not wounded or worse.

The hard yards had already been done by Britain and her Commonwealth countries though since 1939.

Sorry but the USA did not fight the Japanese and Nazis all by themselves it was a world effort against a common evil

This is absolutely true, and speaking for all Americans, my (our) apologies for the wrong thinking before we entered the war. FDR made the correct decision in allowing the "surprise" attack in order to bring us into the fray.

You are correct. It took all of the Allies to overcome the evil. To this day no one can do it by themselves.

Thanks for the reminder! Had two uncles that were In WWII. One worked setting up radar install before planes were landed on islands in the Pacific. The other was in Europe for clean up. Neither one talked about it much.
Very proud of them and our service men that continue to protect this great country!
