working on my speedster i found that the solder was cracked where the tanks are fastened as well as some older repairs. i removed the tanks and found about half the tubes were stopped up, had a hell of a time clearing the tubes and damaged several tubes in the process. no worry i had another radiator a guy gave me. it felt heavy and when i tried to install the shell it wouldn't line up with the screw holes. the core is about 1/2 thicker than the regular a rad.
what is this rad from.? it looks right except for the thickness. new rad's are nearly $100.00. now. i'll be looking for a useable one. has anybody around western n.c. got a good one at a decent price??? |

I think the thicker core is a fairly reliable sign that the second radiator has an extra row of tubes in it. If so, it will cool much better than an original - experience speaking there. A speedster is light so it won't need as much cooling as a heavy car would. You could use a thermostat to keep it warm. IMO, if you can get the thicker one in, go for it.

the problem with the thicker rad. is the shell won't go on deep enough for the bolts to work. must not be an a rad even though it looks close. i had it mounted and hoses hooked up but could not put the shell on.

If it is a 30-31 it is a truck radiator. The shell on the truck is also about 1/2 inches thicker.
