32 ford hood
In a issue of Hagerty drivers club mag. there is an article about the 32 ford stating that the 25 louver hood were on cars sold on the West coast while the 20 louver hoods were East coast. Is this accurate?

Re: 32 ford hood
Utter nonsense. Once the tooling had been changed and the inventory of 20-louver hoods was exhausted in the U.S., every '32, four or V8, was equipped the 25-louver hood. As that process took place, if there was a destination preference while the old hood inventory was being used up, it would have been to southern destinations nationwide, not west versus east. The relative rarity of 25-louver hoods is a function of the timing of the change, which took place very late in the U.S. '32 model year, not otherwise.

Re: 32 ford hood
Thanks, Tom, for sharing the rest of the misinformation in that piece. 2 - The grille is only "nearly upright" if the back end of the car is higher than the front end; otherwise how does one explain the parallel edges of the front and back of the hood sides. 4 - The front axle is in the same position as that of a Model A. 5 - There 10 body styles, not 14 (presuming he means in North America); 14 was the number of models. 6 - the hood nonsense. 7 - Some North American '32 bodies have at least as much wood in them as their Model A counterparts. 9 - I think he meant to write "...the lines of the bodies above the rear fenders...." and even then it isn't a correct statement as the roadster, standard coupe, and sport coupe all share the same lines of the body above the rear fenders.

Re: 32 ford hood
Well I've never seen a roadster sporting a 5W door; where's the jamb? This is very disappointing as I thought Foose knew better!

Re: 32 ford hood
Was he on drugs when he wrote that? Even I knew a lot of that was crap and I have only owned one 32 Ford.

I think somebody should send Foose one of David's books to get him educated.

Re: 32 ford hood
An ex is a former and a spurt is a drip under pressure. An old Command Sergeant Major told me that once. That's their job though. Specialist is the term that I preferred after that ass chewing. I'm only a specialist when it comes to light helicopters. On Fords, I will always be learning something.

Rotorwrench....Appreciate your service, & being one who somewhat parallels your m. o. s. (67n20), I too during my so. east tour of duty overheard a flight officer respond to a crew chief whom in casual conversation was complaining that the flies were biting the hell out of his ankles after showering before he could get back to his quarters. his suggestion was after washing his rear quarters to be sure to wash again from that point down or the critters would most certainly zero in
