Visual ID a couple things
Hi all,
I was looking at a Craigslist ad for a '29 Fordor and it had this photo, which contained some elements I had trouble identifying. Wondering if someone here knows. (I do recognize the Aermore exhaust whistle kit under the carb.)
Listing says it's a Schwalm's engine but no other specifics. Link to the original |

2. It is a Model B Zenith carburetor with a Model A Ford side bowl Sediment bulb. 3. The intake manifold is a Model B intake manifold

Re: Visual ID a couple things
Thanks! Wonder if it's a HC head. You'd think the seller would want to mention these things.
Also interesting that it has both the firewall-mounted sediment bulb and, presumably, the bulb in the Model B carb. |

Re: Visual ID a couple things
Alex,
Not all people are born car salesmen.....luckily. The firewall is the typical design of a 1929 Briggs or Murray built body to install a Ford made gas tank under their cowling. Removing that panel allows the gas tank to be removed or installed....and not any way as easy as my description. Be happy with your Ford built body. |

Re: Visual ID a couple things
???
Can someone explain to me where the fantasy started that when you sell a used car the purchaser is suppose to re-pay you for every expense you had with the car ?? Try that same approach with year old bowling shoes or golf clubs. You bought it, made the necessary repairs, drove it and generally had the fun you expected from your purchase. Your fortunate someone else sees value in it after you have owned it. my $.02 |

Re: Visual ID a couple things
The discussion is not about whether one should expect to be reimbursed 1:1 for expenses – this is obviously false. The discussion is about to what extent alterations that are improvements on the market-average alternative, such as an aftermarket transmission, add to the resale value. It's a perfectly normal discussion to have, people have it about houses all the time.

Re: Visual ID a couple things
I see no reason from the pictures to assume it is a high compression head.

Re: Visual ID a couple things
No outward evidence, I was just inferring that if someone were going to the trouble of adapting a Model B carb and intake, it would be weird not to do the head as well. The Snyder's heads look stock.

It's "PeeDee" car listed in our Swap Meet section. You could PM him/her for additional info.
