Re: Parades
Did one the last several years with over 100 cars of all types in the parade. Town manager retired and new one has made it by invitation only. Don't know anybody who was invited. She's apparently not a car lover. It was a real Americana parade and I will miss it. Looking for somewhere else to go next year.
Happy Fourth to all and remember those who sacrificed for what we have today. Glen

Re: Parades
Just returned from the Smyrna, DE parade (250 yr. celebration for the town). Despite
near 90 degrees and very little breeze, the car handled it very well.! |

Re: Parades
Just got home from a nice parade, hot day but no problems with the A. I often shift to neutral when possible and coast to save wear on the crank thrust bearing. I wonder if riding the clutch in lots of parades over the years has contributed to so many A's having excessive crankshaft end play. Just more to worry about Have a Happy Fourth of July!

Re: Parades
There's one locally but been there done that. I just got tired of it, and most parades around here are totally unorganized and chaotic. Plus, it's almost 90 degrees here today and that would really be hot doing 5 mph for a mile behind a Shriner on a scooter.

Re: Parades
I am in a small town on Cape Cod (Wellfleet) and by actual count, from the man who gives out souvenir attendance plaques, we had 66 cars and 4 antique motorcycles in our July 4th parade. This is a typical average for my home town as we have a special car parade just ahead of the parade with floats and marching units, so the car parade is slow, steady, and non stop. And no pre registration required, if you show up you are good to go. My son drove my 1930 Model A Coupe and I rode with him.

Re: Parades
The Volcano A's had 18 cars in the Ridgefield, Washington parade. Ridgefield is a small town, but has been growing at 10%/year for several years. Great parade, tons of people & good friends. After words we had a potluck at a local club members house. It was a great "A" day.

Re: Parades
I did the one in Independence, CA. I had the only Model A in the parade. Had a good time. If I can get the pictures I took off my phone I will post.

Re: Parades
I did the Blaine Wa parade. I bought the car and use it as an every day driver. I decorated the car loaded the rumble seat with my Grand Children.
I could not believe it when just prior to the parade start time the judges came by and gave me a nice ribbon, Best Antique Car and a trophy, Judges Choice. What can I say, first parade and got a clean sweep. I guess beginners luck. Any tips on driving your car in a slow moving parade? Gerry Allen Birch Bay Wa. |

Re: Parades
Not a parade per se, and not Model A, but fun none-the-less. My living history group set up a "timeline" of encampments representing the Revolutionary War, Civil War, WWII, and Vietnam at Valley Forge most of the day yesterday. Had my 42 Jeep and combat pigeon display as part of the WWII group. Hotter than blazes, but we were under a very large fly. Fortunately, we could strip down to our HBTs, not the Rev and CW guys and gals though. Very busy all day talking to people. Seemed like a good way to spend the 4th.

Re: Parades
We drove 2 1928 borrowed Tudors in the Clarksburg Ca parade with the Sacramento A's. Beautiful cool sunny day 11 Model A's in the parade and huge fun.
The July 4th fireworks display last night was amazing too. Thank you Joe and Karen Lopez and all the others for a great July 4th celebration. SAJ in the USA |

Re: Parades
Cindy and I had the pleasure of giving Christina Heron, the 2018 Danish Maid, a ride in the Solvang 4th of July Parade. This is our 1936 Ford Roadster.
