We had a Simplicity lawn tractor in the 60's had a similar looking gas gauge as that Buick!

Studebaker used a dash mounted gas guage in the mid-teens.That was one of the little pieces of info I got from the magazine back when I belonged to the Studebaker drivers club. Some other long gone orphan car had an electric one in the early 20's,but I can't remember what brand it was.

Hello, just did this to my 31 , would leak like original post, nothing was tight and the sequence of assembly was also wrong, used 2 of the brass slip washers with a little WD 40 , not leaking any more with full tank ,and the novelty of seeing gas in gauge.

Been there - it, along with the rubber gasket, were dissolving in the e-gas and began leaking into the car. Short term, while waiting for USPS to deliver rebuild kit, was to not fill over 3/4 - but, that's not a good long term solution IMHO.
