Tubman, thanks for the positive result. It gives me hope. And I'll have a look at the Muggy-Weld stuff for a plan B.
I thought about posting in the swap meet area, but I need to get my post count above 10 in order to be able to post there. It's one of the reasons I posted about something minor like a door handle... just to up my post count without posting completely useless stuff.

Is there enough room to press a tight fitting sleeve over the round part? Might be do-able if you have a lathe.

Mart, that is a great idea. I don't have a lathe, but I will look around the garage to see if I can find something that will work. Do you think a spring clip (like the ones used on vacuum and fuel hoses) would work, or because they give they wouldn't be much of an improvement?

A glorious 82 degrees here. I just had to take the old timers out for some exercise. I think they enjoyed it as much as I did :-)

While returning home from a Netflix Movie opportunity I left Second Gear all over
La Grange road in Tinley Park. Good news is they paid well and I have a Rebuilt Transmission in the garage. Bad news is the weather is Crappy again and The installer (me) is 77 . Oh well |

Ready for radiator install. Cleaned up and painted fan blade. Now, before you get all flustered about the yellow tips, this is going on a 42 Mercury US Army Air Corps staff car. I have photo evidence that some Air Corps motor pools took the regulation about spinning props having yellow tips to the extreme. Especially on this being a one star general's car. So, I did the yellow tips for that reason.

I love the yellow tips, I had thought about doing that to the ceiling fan in my work shop. I haven’t done it yet.

As a follow-up to my post last week, here is the door handle fixed with JB-Weld. I put it on a back door and moved the back door one to the driver door, which is the one that had broken. So far it is holding.

Yeah that's a good idea. Move it to the lesser used door.

Adventures in Senior (77) 40 Ford Transmission Change
Day One Get Car in Garage Day Two Raise car off of the ground. 6 ton jack stands are nice and high. But I forgot how heavy they are. Day Three Remove floor boards and transmission cover also cover front seat with New Fender covers. Day Four Remove rear wheels Days are not consecutive as the weather has been cold or rainy. Reports will be sent as slow progress proceeds. |

I tidied the garage yesterday and made a start on the new roof for the 32 sedan. Got the chicken wire in place. It went ok. First time trying it. Friend helped which made a big difference.

I never realized that until you mentioned it, wow. I appreciate you mentioning it as I like things done correctly. The next time I pull the drums I’ll be turning them back to the correct orientation. Been this way for the past 45 years! Thank you again!!

Drove to Alabama and picked up a spare motor for my 1940 Mercury.
